Abstract

Some aspects of the application of the criminal legislation in the field of combating illegal drug trafficking and legalization (laundering) of proceeds derived from drug trafficking are considered. The analysis of statistical reporting over a long period of timeis carried out. The authors’
position on the priority areas of anti-drug activities that should be reflected in the new version of the Strategy of the State Antinarcotic Policy of the Russian Federation until 2020 is presented: improving the
efficiency of the national system should consist in consolidating the efforts of all state authorities and management in the fight against transnational organized crime in the sphere of illicit drug trafficking;
improving the criminal legislation concerning the counteraction to the legalization of criminal proceeds; increasing the effectiveness of the mechanisms for seizure and confiscation of funds and other property
gained as a result of criminal activities.
