Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of the situation in the sphere of illicit drug trafficking during the period from 2010 to 2017. The proportion of these crimes in the general structure of crime is significant (10%), and it is one of the main threats to state and public security. The main
changes over recent years are connected with the structure of the seized drugs, the rapid increase in illegal trafficking of synthetic drugs, the use of modern information technology and the emergence  of new ways of payment. The authors of the article analyze the main directions (routes) of drugs distribution and the factors determining the drug situation in the Russian Federation. The forecast of the drug situation development is provided. The measures aimed at reducing (minimizing) the risks arising
from the drug threat are proposed.
