Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of the concept and classification of the prevention of offences. The correlation of the concept “prevention of offences” with other related terms, such as “fighting offences”, “crime prevention”, “preventing offences” is analyzed. While singling out the general and individual prevention, the author emphasizes that, despite the dialectical unity of the researched varieties of the prevention of offences, the priority role is played by the general prevention. Special attention is paid to the victimological prevention of offences and its specific features. Besides, the article presents the classification of the prevention of offences according to other characteristics: the area of regulation of public relations; the objects of influence; the subjects applying preventive measures; the types of misconduct; the functions of prevention; the stages of application of preventive measures; the goals playing a decisive role in choosing the means of influence; the duration of preventive measures
and expected results; identifying the causes and conditions of the offences commission, specification of the persons being subjects to influence; the methods of implementing the preventive measures; the
directions of prevention of unlawful acts, etc.
