Abstract

The role of psychological determinants in the mechanism of committing a single recurring crime is expressed in the formation of a criminogenic motivation, which is realized through a
causal relationship, genetically related to recidivism. At the same time, the psychological determinants of recidivism are not static values, but are in constant interaction with each other. The author of the
article analyses the issue of negative information impact on the consciousness of the person prone to commit recurring crime, which, as a result of the change, contributes to the formation of criminogenic
motivation – the main reason for committing a single recurring crime. The recidivism determination process does not only contribute to the commission of separate, unrelated to each other recurrent
crimes by different persons, but also determines the emergence of recidivism having a certain structure and interrelations between the elements based on the criminogenic and motivation field. Besides, the
psychological determination supports the relative mass character of recidivism over a long period of time by means of inter-criminal links that transmit the criminogenic potential through the consciousness
of generations of recidivists. In this regard, it is proposed to pay attention to the organization of individual prevention, taking into account the state of consciousness of persons prone to recidivism.
