Abstract

Competition is a social value, the protection of which ensures the welfare of all segments of the population and guarantees the growth of the national economy. In Russia, the approaches to ensuring the criminal legal protection of freedom of competition have changed many times, that indicates the need for a doctrinal understanding of this object of criminal legal protection. The legalregulation of competitive relations in the field of economic activity, as well as the proposals for the
definition and characterization of the elements of these relations, are analyzed in the article. The author of the article distinguishes the following features of the freedom of competition as an object of criminal
legal protection in the sphere of economic activity: 1) the recognition of competitive relations and economic entities, representatives of authorities and management by the parties; 2) the implementation
of the regulation of the relations established in the field of ensuring the freedom of competition by the normative acts of several branches of the Russian legal system; 3) the existence of both private
and public interests being the basis of the relations of freedom of competition. It is concluded that the content of the relations ensuring the freedom of competition are the favorable conditions for carrying
out the economic activities by economic entities, as well as the guarantees of quality and material availability of goods, works and services offered in the market for the consumer.
